A stay at a boutique hotel is often an exciting treat. It’s worth spending some extra cash staying somewhere truly independent, isn’t it? There’s no mention of the names ‘Travelodge’, ‘Hilton’ or ‘Premier Inn’ in this post.

With this being said, we’ve put together some of the region’s best boutique hotels. We will write another post with some more from our list soon!

Best Boutique Hotels – Part 1

42 The Calls, Leeds

A 4 star hotel located in a converted 18th century flour mill, this Leeds hotel is one of the cities most luxurious. They endeavour to treat all of their guests to a “home from home” experience. All bedrooms are designed around the original features of the mill. They have a variety of different rooms from ‘Study’ rooms to ‘The Penthouse Suite’.

I like the look of the riverside location & will definitely think of this place when I visit Leeds in the future.

Middlethorpe Hall & Spa, North Yorkshire

Middlethorpe Hall is a beautiful hotel & spa just outside of York, North Yorkshire. It is known for its comfortable, luxurious atmosphere with 29 guest rooms & suites. Bedrooms, in my opinion, do appear quite dated but that is something I could handle if other services, such as the spa, were first class. The restaurant holds 2 AA rosettes so that’s also something that I’d like to try, too. The afternoon tea looks yummy!

Velvet, Manchester

Situated on Manchester’s vibrant Canal St, a warm & friendly welcome awaits at Velvet. The restaurant and bar  look super cool with added creative cocktails such as the ‘Sunset Slipper’; a concoction of malibu, archers, orange juice, pineapple juice, cranberry juice & grenadine. Accommodation wise rooms on offer include king suites up to full apartments. I’m actually booked to stay there very soon and can’t wait!

Grey Street Hotel, Newcastle-upon-Tyne

The Grey Street Hotel is situated in the heart of Newcastle’s city centre. I walked past this boutique hotel many a time during my time at university and it really is stunning. They advertise that no two rooms are the same but all feature Georgian character with modern finishing touches.
