If you are yet to fight over the coveted Sunday Lunch places across the region, have you ever thought about doing something a bit different? Many places are now offering something unique, providing a fantastic alternative for your Mother’s Day plans. Whether it’s a Japanese Afternoon Tea at Newcastle’s ‘Aveika’ or an evening of cured meats and cheeses at Middlesbrough’s ‘The Curing House’, we have you covered. Here is some of the select few…

With  live music for this edition from Ricky Clark; it promises to be a night filled with delicious cured meats and tasty cheeses topped with a homely atmosphere. Mother’s Day should be a family day, am I right? For us at ‘The Northern Niche’, a family day often involves getting outdoors and enjoying a stroll around somewhere pretty. Alnwick Gardens sounds perfect if you ask me and now spring has finally sprung you can expect lots of colour. They also have have one of the worlds largest wooden tree houses; something that would definitely keep the kids’ attention.

Orange Pip Market, Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough’s Orange Pip Market is back and whilst it’s not technically on Mother’s Day (actually on Saturday 25th) it’s still worth a mention. We have posted a couple of times about its success and look forward to what it has in store this year! Expect artisan food, flowing drinks, live music & more. I just hope the weather is good to us *crosses fingers*.

Brewdog, Newcastle

If you’re in to craft beers, Brewdog is offering something truly unique for Mother’s Day – BEER SCHOOL! For just £20 per person you get to try 5 1/3 pints accompanied with a meat and cheese board to share. PLUS, if you take your mum/mam/ma she gets in for FREE.
