We love afternoon tea here at The Northern Niche with some of our other posts on the topic being our most popular. Remember that ‘Harry Potter’ afternoon tea? It went viral locally!

This past weekend has been the elder of the duos birthday celebration! We visited Leeds for a shopping, food & cocktails kinda day. Our last pit stop was at Crafthouse for afternoon tea and it was so good we thought we’d share the experience!

What Is & Where Is Crafthouse?

Crafthouse offers regularly changing British menus with an exclusive feel complimented by higher end decor and service. The restaurant is located on the fifth floor of the Trinity Leeds shopping centre giving fantastic views of the surrounding city. Just look at the interiors…gorgeous!

They even have a private dining room that seats up to 18 people. It looks ideal if you’re having a birthday celebration or business event. Here it is below…

The Afternoon Tea!

Do I need to say any more? When it arrived at our table we were amazed! We’ve never seen such a colourful afternoon tea selection! The savoury options were on the bottom tray and included plain and fruit scones, egg and cress, yorkshire ham and cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches. You will also notice a small cone which contained a little morsel of smoked salmon which we all loved!

The egg shell pots were a cute touch and a very different way of presenting the clotted cream and jam. The desert options then included a raspberry tart, fruit macaron and milk chocolate and praline tart with the latter being my favourite.

The afternoon tea sets you back £18 per person for the basic option, £23 for prosecco or £28 for Moet & Chandon. We went for the cheapest option as we had already had a fair few Alchemist cocktails earlier in the day!

The Birthday Gal’s Thoughts

I loved the fact that along with tasting scrumptious everything was visually exciting and all exquisitely proportioned. The restaurant was a bit quiet ahead of dinner service and we agreed we’d love to try at night when we reckoned the place would really come alive. It’s great to unearth more places throughout the North and further afield to add to our Northern Niche list.

We had a great time at Crafthouse and would recommend it to anyone visiting or living in Leeds. It is on the expensive side but this is a case of ‘you get what you pay for’. The food and service were both outstanding! You can find their website here.

Have you visited before? Would you recommend anywhere else in Leeds?
